Not many people, even those who aren’t photographer’s, attended the cold and windy January Cars & Coffee PhotoWalk. And that’s too bad because you can learn a lot during a PhotoWalk but not what you might think.
One of biggest misconceptions many photographer have is that a PhotoWalk is like a moving workshop but it’s not. It’s more like one of my original blog’s “Coffee and Cameras” sessions where different photographers get together to share ideas and shooting tips. The big difference is that we’re walking while we’re doing it. You can bring your own coffee but there’s always a coffee truck there full of caffeinated delights.
Each month, this website/blog sponsors monthly PhotoWalks in conjunction to the Cars and Coffee events held (weather or not) at The Vehicle Vault in Parker, Colorado, which is where these image were made. No, it’s not a workshop but simply and excuse to get out make some pictures, meet some new people and maybe just learn something new along the way. That’s why the PhotoWalk that this and our sister blog sponsors are always free. But sometimes, I’ll bring along a new camera or lens that I’m testing for this blog or Shutterbug and will let the attendees shoot a few images on their own memory cards.
And while a PhotoWalk may not be a workshop, you will learn something new, even if it’s just a better way to use the camera you have or maybe try a setting that you never tried before. It’s a give-and-take session between whoever is leading the PhotoWalk and each and every attendee. I always learn something new during these events too and so will you but more importantly you might just make a new friend.
The next Cars and Coffee @ Vehicle Vault is on February 11, 2017. Hope to see you there.
