Right now I didn’t even own a car—don’t get me started—but Mary is contemplating getting an electric car for her next company car. And while the cost of updating our almost 30-year old electrical panel in the garage may cost more than a few bucks, the idea of never having to purchase gasoline again has it’s appeal to her. The car that’s currently on her radar is Ford’s Mustang Mach E, and of course, she prefers one in white. She really likes the VW ID.4, which she test drove but has a really good relationship with the Ford Dealer who services her Escape.
New research by Zutobi has looked at the number of registered EVs and % of vehicles that are electric in each US state to reveal the states with the highest % of ownership for an EV and Colorado Is 7th in EV Ownership in the USA. Colorado has 24,670 registered electric cars, although I see a lot of Teslas and some of those electric Mustangs driving up and down State highway 83 aka Parker Road. But my state is pikers compared to California which has 425,300 electric cars. The state accounts for almost half of the plug-in electric car sales in the country. But then again the population of Colorado is 5.85 million making it the 22nd populous state in US, while California 39,185,605 people as of January 1, 2022. Surprisingly, Hawaii is second, with 0.85% of its fleet being EVs. Plug-in vehicles are popular in Hawaii thanks to the short driving distances and generous policy incentives from the state government.
I will keep you posted to see if Mary becomes an Electric Car owner…
