It’s been more than a week since my leased Range Rover was turned into the dealer and I’ve been car-less. Since then I drove Mary’s 2006 SLK to a Doctor’s appointment and it was a revelation switching from what is essentially a truck to what is essentially a sports car. The SLK 350 is a joy to drive—except when it snows, which it’s been doing a lot of lately.
I’m really hoping to find a nice used Mercedes-Benz C-Class 4Matic station wagon but Mary would prefer I not get a wagon and has started a quest to find me an affordable (not so easy) Mercedes-Benz G-500. (And if you think we both have a passion, even an obsession with M-B cars you would be right.) She test drove the below car in Dallas and while it turned out that she liked the concept and design of the G-wagon, she didn’t care for this particular one.
I have been haunting Craig’s List, Car Gurus and Auto Trader for something suitable and have come up with nothing I liked. Mary claims it’s because the Evoque spoiled me; she may be right. She has actually test driven a car, truck, whatever—I have not. Because I’m an unabashed Anglophile, I have also been looking for a Series II Land Rover Discovery but so far none have appealed to me.
Doug DeMuro is a writer for the Jalopnik blog and he asked his readers what car he should buy which he answers (but not with his final decision) in the below video.
So far, I haven’t asked you readers which (used) car I should purchase but figured, what the heck, you might have some better ideas than I’ve come up with lately. So please, read my recent blog post about car shopping and click the above Contact link and make a suggestion. I can’t promise I’ll buy what you suggest but do promise I will look at it.
