On 4/4, Jeep 4X4 Day launches us into adventure! Celebrate the excitement of discovery while venturing out in the open air. This celebration reminds us that every day was meant for adventure!
The Jeep brand founded Jeep 4X4 Day to celebrate adventure-seeking in a Jeep brand 4×4. The Registrar at National Day Calendar declared the first observance to take place in 2016 and annually thereafter.
Fresh air and warmer temperatures lure us outdoors and what better way to experience the thrill of an excursion than in a Jeep 4X4. Whether it’s up rocky slopes or through muddy trails, Jeep vehicles let you take adventure to a whole new level. Crossing creeks, touring valleys, and maneuvering through rocky terrain are just part of the trek. In a Jeep brand vehicle, you can see lost history and beautiful vistas. Why not getaway with friends for the day or take off for a week by yourself to refuel?

My Jeeps: My first Jeep was a CJ-5 that I owned back in the seventies and I used it to do all kinds of Jeepy stuff with from flying through the air in an old gravel pit—we called it Rat Patrol—to driving in the sand and surf in Assateague Island. It was fun off road but I didn’t enjoy driving it to work or living with it. It was replaced by a K-5 Chevrolet Blazer.
My second and last Jeep was an AMC 1985 Wagoneer Limited (the small one) and was one of the two cars—the other is a Porsche 912—that I miss to this very day. I bought a high mileage example with the problematical Chevrolet 2.8 liter V6 engine and it had a five-speed manual transmission that along with this Jeep’s compact size made it a delight to drive.
