Today’s Post by Joe Farace
If you’ve a regular reader of this blog you know we’re big fans of Volkswagens, all kinds of VWs from air to water cooled. Somewhere I have a photograph of Mary as an infant with her Mom and Dad next to their brand new 1953 VW Beetle. (If I can find it, I’ll post it her, it’ so cute.)
VWs on the Green is sponsored by the Volkswagen Enthusiast of Colorado car club, which was started in the Denver metro area in 1987. From the very beginning VWEC has been an active club supportive of its members and their passion for modern and classic VW’s. In 1995 with the help of sponsors, the club put on the first Volkswagens on the Green (aka VWOTG) on the grass at Arapaho Community College. I was there in 2002 with my new Volkswagen GTI 337. And Mary and I have attended almost all of the shows since then in whatver VW vehicke we had at the time—Mary also had a white Cabriolet that she really loved.
Sadly for 2022 there will be no VWs on the Green show this year, according to their Facebook page. If anyone know of another Volkswagen-based car show that will be happening this year, please click the CONTACT tab and let me know.
Postscript: Did you see my vlog that featured a scrolling list of the different cars that I’ve owned over the years? One of the marques missing from my earlier years of driving and collecting cars is Volkswagen. For some reason and I don’t know why (but have an idea) there were no Volkswagens on that list until Mary and I were married.
